Java Developer – Financial Services

Project Description

Join our Bucharest Development Centre and work with a global financial services client on a high-performance securitization platform.

You will be part of an international engineering team building scalable and secure financial technology solutions using Java, Spring Boot, microservices, PostgreSQL, messaging systems, Kubernetes and GCP.

Work model: Hybrid – 3 days per week on-site in Bucharest

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality Java applications within a microservices architecture.
• Build scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
• Design and optimize PostgreSQL databases, including schemas, queries, and indexes.
• Develop message-driven and event-based applications using Pub/Sub technologies.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from requirements to production.
• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code following SOLID and software craftsmanship principles.
• Develop and maintain unit and integration tests, applying TDD/BDD practices where appropriate.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts, QAs, Architects, Product Owners, and other engineering teams.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and the evolution of the platform.
• Work in an Agile/Scrum environment within globally distributed teams.
• Ensure solutions are reliable, scalable, and easy to support in production.

Skills

Must Have

• Java 21+: Strong hands-on experience with modern Java.
• Spring Boot: Solid experience with Spring Boot 3.x, Spring MVC, and Spring Data.
• Microservices: Proven experience designing and developing scalable microservices architectures.
• PostgreSQL: Strong knowledge of database design, query optimization, and indexing.
• Messaging: Experience with event-driven architecture and messaging platforms such as Google Cloud Pub/Sub, Kafka, or RabbitMQ.
• Software Engineering: Strong knowledge of SOLID, clean code, design principles, and automated testing (JUnit/Mockito).
• Cloud & Containers: Experience with GCP, Kubernetes, and Helm.
• CI/CD & Tools: Experience with Maven, Git, Jenkins and/or TeamCity.
• Testing: Hands-on experience with TDD and/or BDD.
• Agile: Experience working with Scrum/Agile methodologies, Jira and Confluence.
• English: C1 – Advanced.

Nice to Have

• Google Cloud Platform: Hands-on experience with GKE, Cloud SQL, BigQuery, or other GCP services.
• Experience with additional cloud-native technologies and distributed systems.
