Job Description
Full Stack Engineer | San Francisco (in-office) | $130,000 - $180,000 + 0.6% - 0.7% equity | Visa sponsorship available | Seed-stage
Our client is a Seed/Series A fintech-for-education startup building the financial rails for $1.5T of US education funds. Their consumer card, powered by an AI eligibility model, gives parents instant access to education dollars while giving states automated AI fraud detection. Live in Arizona and nearly doubling monthly, expanding into Florida and federal programs, having launched their card program in just 74 days. They've raised $16M from top-tier VCs and angels.
The team is the standout selling point: an unusual mix of ex-founders and operators who've either run a school or run risk at a major fintech, including a founding engineer from MILA, a Head of Risk who led risk at Mercury, Stripe and Circle, payments engineers from Microsoft and Goldman, and a GTM lead who co-founded a leading fintech superapp. The company is in-person in San Francisco, flat, super-IC, and genuinely mission-driven.
The Role
This Full Stack Engineer will own the parent-facing experience end to end: receipts, claims, reimbursements and statements, built for clarity and trust so a parent never wonders whether a reimbursement will go through. Most customers are non-technical homeschool parents, so the mandate is intuitive UX, not slick complexity. Success here is measured by parent outcomes, not time spent in the app. This is a builder role, not a product management role - the founders want an engineer whose spike is product, UX and database sense.
