Staff Embedded Software Engineer - Ireland (Onsite) - EU Relocation Offered
As a Staff Embedded Software Engineer, you will drive the development of low-level firmware and kernel drivers for next-generation chipsets, with a dedicated focus on PCIe and CXL subsystems. You will work directly at the hardware-software boundary, collaborating with architecture teams to optimize software for performance, power, and scalability.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, debug, and commercialize low-level embedded firmware and drivers for PCIe and CXL subsystems.
- Write standards-compliant software and contribute directly to mainline/upstream Linux kernel drivers and embedded distributions.
- Collaborate with hardware and system architects to drive seamless HW/SW integration and shape future chipset architecture.
- Optimize embedded software for maximum throughput, low latency, and power efficiency across real-time and Linux platforms.
- Lead cross-functional debugging and technical discussions to resolve complex hardware-software interaction issues.

- Deep, hands-on experience with PCIe and CXL protocols, low-level driver development, and the Linux kernel subsystem.
- Proven track record contributing to or working extensively with mainline Linux distributions and kernel architectures (experience within major semiconductor or cloud infrastructure environments such as Intel or Amazon/AWS is highly desirable).
- Exceptional C programming skills with experience in RTOS, Zephyr, UEFI, and ACPI environments.
- 7+ years in embedded software, kernel driver development, or firmware engineering.
- Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
