Role: Security and Risk Architect - Email Security & Microsoft 365

Title: AVP/VP

Location: NYC / Alpharetta

Experience: 8+ Years

Mode of Work: Onsite

What You Need

• 8+ years in security architecture or security risk, including at least 3 years in a bank or other regulated financial institution
• Experience taking a third-party security or SaaS product through an enterprise architecture and security review, and writing the papers that got it approved
• Solid grasp of Microsoft 365 and Entra ID integration, API permission models, SIEM and logging integration, and data-residency questions for cloud services
• Able to write a risk register that a risk function accepts — clear risks, real mitigations, named owners
• Based in or able to relocate to New York, Alpharetta, or Montreal for the engagement

Good to Have

• Experience assessing AI or machine-learning based security tools, including model-risk questions such as explainability and validation
• Familiarity with email security architecture specifically — mail flow, gateways, API-integrated protection
• TOGAF, SABSA, CISSP or equivalent certification

What You Will Do

• Analyse cloud, on-premises, and hybrid deployment options for each candidate product, with prerequisites and limitations
• Produce the target architecture — trust boundaries, data flows, integrations, identities, logging, and resilience
• Run the risk assessment across product, security, privacy, data, architecture, resilience, AI and model, vendor, and operational risk — with mitigations, owners, and residual ratings
• Write the security design, architecture decision record, and other approval artifacts, and support the client's onboarding approvals for the selected product
• Own the deployment strategy — coexistence with the existing gateway and Microsoft Defender, rollback, sequencing, and dependencies
