About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Kotlin/Java-based Android App Developer to join our dynamic team at Nubble Site Solutions. This is a contracted, in-person position located in York, Maine, requiring reliable commuting or relocation. The successful candidate will work closely with our Lead Software Developer to enhance and maintain our flagship SiteBoss rover application, which is a core component of our GPS solutions for construction. The role involves ongoing feature development, debugging, and ensuring high performance and responsiveness of the Android application. Additionally, the developer will assist in developing backend infrastructure, deploying services on Google Cloud, and collaborating within a structured quarterly release cycle. This position offers a competitive base salary complemented by performance bonuses, with opportunities for significant annual earnings based on experience and deliverables. The role is ideal for a motivated software engineer eager to contribute to cutting-edge construction technology and grow within a forward-thinking company.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates should demonstrate a strong background in Android development, with at least two years of experience using Android Studio, Kotlin, and Java. Prior experience with backend languages such as PHP or JavaScript is preferred, along with familiarity with Docker or container orchestration platforms. Knowledge of Linux operating systems and web development skills are advantageous. An understanding of RTK GPS technology and related concepts is a plus but not mandatory. Candidates must possess excellent communication skills for professional interactions, including email correspondence, meetings, and documentation. The ability to work effectively as part of a team, follow instructions diligently, and maintain a professional demeanor is essential. Prior experience with SQL, HTML/CSS, and web services/APIs will be considered beneficial. A portfolio or samples of previous work, preferably via GitHub, should be included with the application, along with references from former employers to verify experience.

- Develop, debug, and maintain the construction GPS-focused Android application using Kotlin, ensuring it meets performance, quality, and responsiveness standards.
- Collaborate with project managers, owners, and team members to translate creative ideas into functional software solutions.
- Participate in quarterly release cycles, working closely with the software team to define, prioritize, and deliver features on schedule.
- Deploy, monitor, and maintain backend services on the Google Cloud platform, ensuring high availability and security.
- Continuously improve application performance, troubleshoot technical issues, and implement updates as needed.
- Maintain clear documentation and communicate progress, challenges, and solutions effectively to team members and stakeholders.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends relevant to Android development and GPS solutions.
- Adhere to office hours from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, maintaining a professional and proactive approach to work responsibilities.
