About The Role
The Digital Forensics Analyst position at Rolls-Royce offers a unique opportunity for a highly motivated cybersecurity professional to join our Purple Team. This role is integral to our security operations, bridging offensive and defensive security practices to protect our digital assets. The analyst will be responsible for investigating security incidents, conducting threat hunting activities, and developing detection strategies to identify and mitigate cyber threats. Working collaboratively with red and blue teams, the successful candidate will help strengthen our security posture by emulating adversary tactics, analyzing attack patterns, and refining detection capabilities. The role requires a proactive mindset, excellent analytical skills, and a deep understanding of digital forensics, incident response, and threat intelligence. This is a full-time hybrid position based in Indianapolis, IN, with relocation assistance available if needed.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess a combination of educational background and professional experience in cybersecurity or related fields. An associate's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Mathematics with at least two years of relevant experience, or a bachelor's degree in these disciplines with similar experience, is required. Advanced degrees such as a master's or PhD in these fields are preferred. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and have a minimum of six years of experience in cybersecurity or information technology if they do not hold a degree. Professional certifications like GIAC (GCFA, GCIH, GCFE), Microsoft certifications (SC-200, SC-400, AZ-500), or CISSP are highly desirable. The candidate should demonstrate proficiency in memory acquisition tools, SIEM platforms, EDR technologies, scripting languages, and familiarity with attack frameworks and cloud security environments.

- Lead or support investigations involving malware, ransomware, insider threats, and advanced persistent threats, utilizing endpoint, memory, disk, and cloud forensics techniques.
- Conduct triage activities during security incidents, coordinating containment, eradication, and recovery efforts to minimize impact.
- Develop and maintain incident response playbooks, procedures, and technical reports for executive and technical audiences.
- Perform proactive threat hunting across endpoints, identity systems, cloud platforms, and network telemetry to identify malicious activities and gaps in security visibility.
- Analyze attack patterns using frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK, developing hypotheses and improving detection strategies accordingly.
- Collaborate with red team operators to emulate adversary tactics, validate detection efficacy, and execute purple team exercises to enhance security measures.
- Develop and tune detection rules within SIEM and EDR platforms, reducing false positives and creating dashboards for continuous monitoring.
- Automate repetitive investigation and detection tasks through scripting to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Acquire and analyze forensic artifacts from various systems, including Windows, Linux, cloud environments, containers, and identity providers, to reconstruct timelines and analyze persistence mechanisms.
