Our clients include leading visitor attractions, arenas, stadiums, film distributors, national film organisations and entertainment brands across Europe and North America. We build high-performance WordPress platforms that integrate with ticketing systems, CRM platforms and analytics tools, helping millions of visitors discover, plan and book experiences every year.
As we continue to grow, we're looking for an experienced WordPress Engineer to help us deliver new client projects while strengthening our support coverage for clients in the United States.
The Role
This is not a typical WordPress agency role.
You'll work on modern, custom-built WordPress platforms that power commercial websites where performance, SEO, analytics and conversion directly impact revenue.
You'll split your time between:
- Delivering new websites and features
- Maintaining and improving existing client websites
- Developing reusable platform components
- Supporting production systems during our US support window
Our goal is to build a reusable platform rather than reinventing the wheel for every client, so you'll be encouraged to create high-quality plugins, tools and components that can be shared across multiple projects.
What You'll Do
- Build custom WordPress websites using Elementor and ACF
- Design and develop custom WordPress plugins
- Build reusable components that can be shared across multiple client websites
- Integrate third-party APIs and booking platforms
- Troubleshoot production issues and client support requests
- Improve website performance and Core Web Vitals
- Implement technical SEO best practices
- Support analytics and experimentation implementations
- Review code and contribute to engineering standards
- Help improve our internal WordPress platform and development processes
Required Experience
WordPress
- 5+ years of professional WordPress development
- Strong PHP experience
- Deep understanding of WordPress architecture and best practices
- Extensive experience developing custom WordPress plugins
- Experience building custom themes
- Advanced Custom Fields (ACF)
- Elementor (including custom widgets and extending Elementor where appropriate)
- WP-CLI
- WordPress security best practices
- Experience maintaining production WordPress websites
Front-end
- HTML5
- Modern CSS
- JavaScript (ES6+)
- Responsive development

SEO, Performance & Optimisation
This is an important part of the role.
You don't need to be an SEO specialist, but you should understand how development decisions affect search visibility and conversions.
You should have experience with:
- Technical SEO best practices
- Core Web Vitals optimisation
- Website performance optimisation
- Caching strategies
- Structured data (Schema.org)
- Redirect management
- Crawlability and indexation
- Conversion Rate Optimisation (CRO)
- A/B testing or experimentation concepts
Nice to Have
Experience with any of the following would be an advantage:
- Cloudflare
- AWS
- Google Analytics 4
- Google Tag Manager
- Accessibility (WCAG)
- Multilingual websites (WPML, Polylang or Weglot)
- CDN caching
- CI/CD pipelines
- Ticketing or booking platform integrations
- CRM integrations (HubSpot, Salesforce, etc.)

Working Hours
This position is based in the Philippines.
The working schedule is designed to provide support coverage for our North American clients while maintaining normal daytime working hours in the Philippines.
There will also be a short daily overlap with our European engineering team for collaboration and handovers.

Technical Assessment
Rather than asking candidates to build a website from scratch, shortlisted applicants will complete a practical exercise based on a real-world scenario.
The assessment will involve improving and debugging an existing WordPress project and may include tasks such as:
- Extending or fixing a custom plugin
- Diagnosing a production issue
- Resolving a performance problem
- Fixing an SEO or accessibility issue
- Implementing a small feature following existing coding standards
This exercise is designed to reflect the type of work you'll be doing day-to-day at usheru.
Salary
USD $3,000–$4,500 per month, depending on experience.
